Littleover Community School is a large comprehensive 4 miles SW of Derby city centre. It caters for 1700 students aged 11-18 and consequently has amazing facilities, including a purpose built fitness centre. 24 fit classes operate from the exercise studio, which is perfect because it has a sprung floor, so all that jumping around will be gentle on your knees. It’s also a great size, which means as much as you love your workout buddies, you don’t have to exercise on top of them! And you never have to worry about running out of water because there’s a water fountain, and it’s pure and always cold. Heaven!! Oh, another plus is loads of parking, so you don’t have to drag your aching bodies far after your workout.

24 Fit Derby currently run Konga classes at Littleover Community School that is an all-round exercise to music workout suitable for all abilities.

Classes here are perfect if you live in any of these areas :- Littleover, Heatheton, Normanton, Mickleover, Findern, and Sunnyhill

Things you may not know about Littleover

Littleover is about 3 miles SW of the city centre. It’s large, home to about 24,000 people and has a good variety of shops including a co-op, post office (rare these days), Iceland, fish and chip shop, various other takeaways, chemist and opticians. Littleover is actually very old. The name comes from the old English ‘little ufre’ which means little hill, but if you’ve ever run up it, I assure you it doesn’t seem that little! The area around St Peters Church is medieval, the church itself is 14th century, and the suburb has continued to grow, now extending to the glut of houses at Heatherton, past Littleover school and beyond. Did you know that Littleover was part of Mickleover until 1866 when the residents rebelled and formed their own authority? Interestingly, Pastures Hill, a stretch of Burton Road which links the A38 to the city centre is a Roman road, although it is no longer as straight as it was in Roman times.

Directions

Classes are held in the Sport and Fitness centre that is accessed from Fresco Drive and not the main entrance on Pastures Hill. From Derby go past the main entrance on your right, straight over the roundabout, first right onto Haven Baulk Avenue, and first right onto Fresco Drive which leads onto the school drive.

From the A38, take Rykneld Road to Derby, go past Nuffield Hospital, and take the next left onto Haven Baulk Avenue.
